Our field trips offer unique opportunities to explore new areas, work side-by-side with experts in the field, and offer special access to company and state agency run areas. Each experience is unique and we encourage you to take advantage of all the field trip offerings.
Use this page to learn more about each of the field trips. There are required field trips such as 1 Participatory Science, Vernal Pools (one of the 2 weekend options), and 3 of the 6 other topics. Because of the individual and unique nature of each trip, we highly encourage you to attend all trips available.
Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to sign up for your choices.
Participatory Science Field Trip
Participatory Science is one way Virginia Master Naturalists contribute to scientific knowledge. Our chapter participates in 3 main participatory science projects. Click on the images below to read more about each of these projects. Please select a minimum of one of the three of these field trip options to attend. During each of these field trips you will be using monitoring equipment, using a variety of tools, and/or creating habitat. Please dress appropriately for these tasks. Equipment will be provided. Please note - each trip is on a different date.
Vernal Pools
Use the schedule below to sign up for which weekend you wish to attend this trip. Both weekends are the same content, but because space is limited, we have to break up into 2 groups.
