Friends Groups are typically a group of people that provide assistance to an organization, or in the cases below, to our local natural resource parks, through advocacy, fundraising, volunteering, and other activities. Their mission is to help meet the needs of their organization through those efforts. These groups play a crucial role in our community and we encourage you to become a member of each of them.
FoPSP- Friends of Pocahontas State Park -Members of the Friends of Pocahontas State Park support the park by assisting staff, undertaking improvement projects, volunteering at major events, and coordinating with other organizations that use the park's assets.
Accrued volunteer hours allow volunteers to earn benefits such as free camping, free parking passes, and other rewards. Activities of particular interest to Virginia Master Naturalist members are the design and maintenance of native plant gardens, serving as docents in the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, processing firewood, trail maintenance, and assisting with educational programs.
